Price Hill off County Route 89 was the scene of an accident on the evening of July 26. At approximately 8 p.m. a 1978 Jeep CJ-5 with no top driven by John Cool of New Martinsville left the road travelling down an embankment, landing on the driver’s side.

When Sheriff’s Deputy Randy Adams arrived on scene no one was at the vehicle and K-9 officers Chief Deputy Rob Haught and Deputy Rob Scott were called for a possible tracking scenario.

However, before the tracking could commence a call was received informing Adams that Cool and an unidentified passenger had walked to a nearby house to call for assistance in retrieving the vehicle.

Neither Cool nor his passenger required medical attention, although the Jeep sustained extensive damage. Adams issued Cool a citation for reckless driving. In addition to Adams, who is in charge of the investigation, officers from Wetzel County Sheriff’s Office on scene were Haught, Scott, Cpl. Mike Koontz, and Sheriff James Hoskins.
