A New Martinsville man was injured Saturday when he fled on an all terrain vehicle from a Wetzel County deputy. A 25-year-old New Martinsville man, whose name is being withheld pending completion of the investigation, was injured on Crow’s Run near Reader Sept. 22 at approximately 9 p.m. when he lost control of his ATV. Wetzel Sheriff’s Deputy Randy Adams had observed the man on W.Va. 20 going north on a lined, paved highway travelling on the ATV in violation of state law. When Adams turned on his lights to stop the ATV rider, the man fled. Adams pursued the ATV onto Crows Run, where the man lost control and wrecked. He was taken to Wetzel County Hospital where he was treated for minor injuries and released. The man was wearing a helmet. Charges against the man are pending completion of the investigation by Adams. Sheriff James Hoskins reported the Crow’s Run area has frequent problems with ATVs. |
